Event Details

This programme will define features of engaging and inspiring teaching and learning in secondary classrooms. We will review key research into pedagogy and factors impacting student performance and engagement, and translate theory into practical classroom strategies, within a school context. Inspiring and active learning strategies will be explored and shared. Day 2 will investigate the impact of lesson observations and effective classroom coaching conversations on improving our practice and embedding a culture of collaborative professional development.

• Explore the definition and elements of an inspiring and engaging classroom.
• Explore and extend our knowledge of key research findings on what makes a difference to student outcome.
• To further develop and share a repertoire of pedagogical strategies to inspire and engage our students.
• Create enthusiasm and confidence to inspire students using the strategies explored in the programme.
• Develop peer coaching skills to promote

This programme is 2 days of facilitated group sessions plus additional self-study time.

Delivery and Format

This programme will use a blended approach of facilitated online discussion and online self-study using the KAA Online Learning Platform.

  • Facilitated group session 17th November 2021 9.00am GMT – 4.00pm
  • Self- study online module which include film, audio and presentations
  • In school reflections, activities to support discussions and implementation
  • Facilitated group session to review progress and prepare for the next steps – Friday 3rd December 9.00am GMT – 4.00pm GMT

The facilitated sessions will be delivered using Zoom and the online self-study modules will be accessed via KAA Online Learning Platform.

KAA Presenter

Basman Zora

As an experienced headteacher and senior leader, Basman has led two outstanding, international schools in the Middle East and in South East Asia. She started her teaching career in inner-city London comprehensive schools as an English teacher and senior leader. Her expertise in teacher development and CPD; language and literacy, and in school improvement led to her appointment as the English consultant for the National Strategy, working across London schools, advising senior and middle leaders.

Basman is passionate about teaching and learning and school leadership; she has experience in leading on classroom pedagogy, pastoral care, school improvement and leadership. She has worked with a variety of COBIS and BSME schools, delivering high-quality CPD programmes, including middle and senior leadership programmes. A qualified ISI inspector (Independent School Inspectorate), she has developed relevant experiences in leading and inspecting British schools overseas, and of successful implementation of BSO standards. Basman is also a COBIS Lead Improvement Partner.

Basman has delivered the KAA leadership programmes, for a number of years now and in various international locations including Europe and the Middle East, always receiving excellent feedback.
