Dr. David Porritt is delighted to be offering this one day KAA Coaching programme which provides opportunity to develop understanding about coaching and mentoring.

Participants will explore some basic coaching models, the importance of confidentiality in coaching and explore how trust and rapport are built to underpin coaching efficacy. Engaging in practical activities which support their understanding of what coaching is and is not.

Participants will complete the programme with many practical, proven ideas and techniques to ensure school-based coaching is effective, confidential, appropriate.

This is an online event – Thursday 1st July 8am – 2pm BST (GMT +1)

Programme Objectives

  • to provide an introduction to coaching as a way of working with others.
  • to raise awareness and understanding about the potential power of coaching.
  • to explore the key skills and qualities required for effective coaching

Target Audience

Suitable for school-based professionals who have heard about coaching but have not used it in their work. For those who are curious and keen to explore if this powerful professional tool is for them.

Delivery and Format

This programmes will use a blended approach of facilitated online delivery and discussion using zoom and participants will then have access to the online self-study using the KAA Online Learning Platform.

Presenter – Dr. David Porritt

David has been a Headteacher and Principal for 24 years in the UK, Singapore, The Netherlands, Hungary and China. He holds an MBA in Educational Leadership (International) a Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring and has facilitated several cohorts of international teaching staff through the International Programme for Middle Leaders for the Council of British International Schools. Along with developing and running workshops and professional learning sessions at various conferences as a consultant in schools and for a church. David has recently completed his Doctorate in Leadership and Coaching at UCL Institute of Education with the focus of the doctorate, understanding how leaders use coaching to impact their organisations.
His research is concerned with Professional Agency: Exploring the Impact of Coaching on the Leadership, Learning and Self-Efficacy of School Leaders who Coach. He has been a team inspector for OfSTED and the Independent Schools Inspectorate. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management and coaches several clients, helping them to promote desirable and sustainable change.
Outside of school, David is a keen road cyclist and musician. He plays in a rock band when time allows and enjoys long rides with friends in a cycling club.
