Metacognition and Self Regulation
This Module on metacognition and self-regulation has been designed for classroom teachers and leaders working in both primary and secondary schools.
The module will explore the role that the adult can have in promoting this highly effective learning strategy in the classroom and the metacognitive behaviours that it is desirable that children demonstrate in order to be effective learners.
Metacognition and self-regulation module objectives:
- Review what exactly Metacognition means and how it applies to the classroom and our pupils’ learning.
- Consider the barriers children face in their learning and strategies to overcome them to allow high quality teaching and learning to take place.
- Explore strategies in other classrooms before planning to use them in our own classroom and school settings.
